Captioning

Captioning displays transcriptions of a program's dialogue, narration and sound effects to provide accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Captioning also offers bilingual accessibility for individuals with limited English language or spoken word comprehension. Bridge's captioning workflow process provides speed and accuracy, a result of superior captioning training and our extensive experience working with all forms of digital media.

Bridge delivers captioning as a component of every type of programming:

  • BROADCAST AND CABLE TELEVISION:
through closed captions; text is "hidden" in the video signal and displayed only upon the request of the user

  • CONSUMER VIDEO TAPES:
through open captions; text is permanently displayed along with the video images. Consumer video tapes can also include closed captions.

  • ONLINE AND STREAMING MEDIA:
with all video playback applications, including Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Flash and RealPlayer.

Bridge Multimedia provides captioning in all media formats, including DVD, CD-ROM, streaming media and downloadable media. We are fully equipped for captioning production in both linear and non-linear formats. We can archive all captioned data as AVID media assets for a program or series.

The Federal Communications Commission has long recognized the importance of captioning and has prescribed rules and implementation schedules for the captioning of video programming for television broadcasts. As of January 1, 2006, 100 percent of all new nonexempt programming must be captioned.
